For an easy way to celebrate this holiday weekend, mix up a pitcher, or two, or three (who’s judging???), of this Sparkling White Christmas Sangria with Hard Apple Cider. It is deliciously crisp and just sweet enough. Perfect for entertaining. Double or triple the recipe as needed.
This sangria comes together in no time. Seriously, less than 5 minutes. Just slice up an apple and add it to a pitcher or decanter along with some cranberries.
Then, pour in the white wine of your choosing and chill for a several hours to let the flavors develop. I chose a white Moscato wine because I wanted some sweetness to balance the slight tartness you get from the green apple and cranberries. If you use a dry white wine, you may want to add in some simple syrup for a sweetener.
To get the bubbles that give this Sparkling White Christmas Sangria its pop, don’t add in the hard apple cider until you are ready to serve the sangria. You can add it directly to the pitcher, or pour it into glasses of sangria like I did here.
If you pour separately: fill the glasses about 3/4 full with the sangria, then fill it up the rest of the way with the cider.
Taste and adjust as desired. You may want more sweetness or more cider. Change it up however you see fit. Add some citrus fruits if you want!
Here’s a handy-dandy Pinterest-friendly image for my fellow Pinterest addicts:
- 1 bottle of decent-quality white Moscato wine*
- 1 Granny Smith apple, sliced thinly
- 1-1.5 cups of fresh or frozen cranberries, washed and drained if fresh
- 2-12oz bottles (or cans) of hard apple cider (choose your favorite brand)
- Add sliced apples and cranberries to your pitcher or decanter.
- Pour in white wine.
- Refrigerate for several hours to chill and let the flavors blend.
- When ready to serve, pour cider directly into pitcher or into glasses filled 3/4 full with sangria.
- Enjoy!
- Feel free to try this with a Riesling as well. If you choose a dry wine, make sure it is not oaky and note that you may want to add some sweetness with a simple syrup.
- Rim your glasses with cinnamon sugar if desired.
